Choosing your braid size

Not sure which size suits you? Use this as a starting point; your stylist will fine tune the perfect look during your consultation based on your hair density, scalp sensitivity, and lifestyle.

  • Detailed · Long wear

    Small

    Wear time
    6 - 8 weeks
    Install
    2 - 3 hrs

Maximum styling versatility, intricate parts, longer wear, and a polished, photo ready finish.

Pairs beautifully with mid back to waist length extensions.

We pair you with multiple stylists so even the most detailed install stays inside 2-3 hours.

  • Balanced · Signature

    Medium

    Wear time
    5 - 7 weeks
    Install
    2 - 3 hrs

The Lounge favorite: a soft, natural look with comfortable wear and easy daily styling.

Flatters shoulder to mid back lengths.

Our most requested size. When in doubt, choose medium.

  • Lightweight · Effortless

    Large

    Wear time
    3 - 5 weeks
    Install
    2 - 3 hrs

A quick refresh, vacation styles, sensitive scalps, or a chunky, statement aesthetic.

Beautiful at bob to shoulder length and bohemian, undone looks.

Gentlest on edges, and out of the chair just as fast.

Goal based: thinner braids = longer wear · thicker braids = lighter feel

Tips & tricks

Keep your protective style longer

A few simple habits make the difference between two weeks of polish and a style that still photographs beautifully at week six. Build them into your routine from day one.

  • Sleep on silk, every night

Wrap with a satin or silk scarf, then add a bonnet on top, or sleep on a silk pillowcase. This is the single biggest move for keeping braids smooth and frizz free past week three.

  • Hydrate the scalp, not the braids

Use a lightweight oil (jojoba, rosemary, tea tree) on the scalp 2-3 times a week. Skip heavy butters and creams on the length, they cause buildup, dullness, and slippage.

  • Cleanse weekly, gently

Dilute a clarifying or scalp focused shampoo with water in an applicator bottle, apply to the scalp only, massage with fingertips, and rinse thoroughly. Air dry or sit under a hooded dryer on cool.

  • Protect your edges

Avoid tight ponytails or buns for the first week, alternate styles through your cycle, and tie down your edges with a silk scarf, never elastic. Mist with rosewater to keep baby hairs soft.

  • Refresh, don't redo

Book a mid-cycle edge & perimeter refresh around week 3-4. A small touch up restores a fresh-out-the-chair look without disturbing the rest of the install.

  • Mind the pool & the sun

Saltwater and chlorine dry braids out and fade color. Coat braids with conditioner or a leave-in before swimming, wear a swim cap, and rinse with fresh water immediately after.

Pro tip from the chair: book a 30-minute edge & perimeter refresh around week three. It resets the look without disturbing the rest of your install.
